The World Community Montessori is an independent, non-profit Montessori school located in southern Virginia, in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.Our small class sizes and unique natural environment foster a warm and caring learning community for approximately 30 students (K-12).Our teachers enjoy a supportive faculty community, well equipped classrooms, and support for continuing education.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE INSTRUCTOR (Part-time)
World Community Montessori is seeking an energetic and dedicated language teacher (Spanish or French) to join our growing school starting August 2023. Specific responsibilities include planning, leading, and implementing the foreign language curriculum for all levels/classes, supporting students, and preparing progress reports.
All teachers are active community members who share in the general support and care of the school community, serve as student advisors, and participate in community service. Responsibilities for this position also include collaboration and participation in a school-wide, co-curricular activities.
This position is between 5-7 hours per week (specific hours and schedule to be determined).
Specific responsibilities include:
- Planning and implementing the Language curriculums, in consultation with school administration;
- Create lesson plans; evaluate student performances; prepare grades and reports
- Teach using lectures, project-based and hands-on learning experiences
- Supporting students and tailor instruction to student needs
- Communicating student progress to staff and parents, as requested.
The ideal candidate will have Bachelor Degree; language fluency, enthusiasm for project-based learning; teaching experience, preferably with a diverse group of students; excellent communication skills; the ability to work in a team; a love for the outdoors; and a passion for working with children.
SCHEDULE: This is a 9-month, part-time position, beginning August 2024. Schedule to be determined. Compensation to be determined based on experience/ability.

World Community Montessori is an independent and non-profit Montessori school. For more than 40 years WCEC has been providing a values-based education in a community setting. Located in a beautiful natural environment in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of southern Virginia. Classes are sized between 5 and 10 students, serving ages from Primary (pre-K) through High School (12th grade) with a proven record of academic excellence and learning through service.
